Your truck or car's AC system is almost completely airtight, but your freon refrigerant is always slowly leaking out. Eventually, a car will lose enough freon so that its air conditioning system will no longer cool effectively. At Shelley's Precision Auto Center at 901 East Thousand Oaks Blvd we are ready to recharge your AC to help you keep your car or truck's cabin temperature cool.

"Help My AC Only Blows Warm Air!"

New advancements in R134a freon systems means that freon in newer cars doesn't leak out as much as old R12 freon systems. The average new model economy car only leaks about 0.41 ounces of refrigerant per year. Come to Shelley's Precision Auto Center in Thousand Oaks when it's time to recharge your AC freon.

Shelley's Precision Auto Center's Fast 3 Step Process:
  • Vacuum out all the old refrigerant before refilling it.
  • Add new R134a refrigerant.
  • Pressurize your car's AC system and test for mico-leaks.
"Does Shelley's Precision Auto Center Have R12 Freon For My Classic Car?"

Unfortunately R12 freon is no longer available. If your car or truck was made before 1994 you must convert your entire AC system to the new R134a standard. This involves replacing dozens of seals and several AC auto parts. R134a is a more highly pressurized and much more efficient refrigerant pound for pound than R12. Most classic car AC compressors and condensers cannot withstand the intense pressure required and choose to add about 25% less freon to accommodate older systems. This means your AC may not cool as well as it used to. Converting your R12 system to R134a is a big job so stop by Shelley's Precision Auto Center today and talk with our mechanics about getting the job done right. Visit us today at 901 East Thousand Oaks Blvd.

"Is Used Freon Ok?"

Many auto repair shops resell used AC refrigerant. The old freon is cleaned using a specialized recovery machine that removes contaminants. Used freon provided by Shelley's Precision Auto Center works just as well as new freon after it's cleaned. Accepting used freon is a great way to help minimize the impact freon has on the environment.

Freon gas becomes a liquid when pressurized inside your car's A/C system but returns to its gaseous state as it leaks out. Many drivers in Thousand Oaks are completely unaware that they are losing freon until the day when they turn on the car's AC and find only warm air blows out. Call 805-497-2818 and ask any of our auto repair specialists about recharging your car's AC. Stop by our store at 901 East Thousand Oaks Blvd and we will show you the best AC recharging options for your car.

What our clients are saying about us

We have established longterm and stable partnerships with various clients thanks to our excellence in solving their automotive needs!

Absolutely love Shelley's and I am a repeat and ongoing customer! I'm always looking for a place that I feel comfortable going to on my own without my fiance as I'm not mechanically savvy and this is it! Christy, who is at the front desk and keeps this place running is so warm and welcoming. She does her job well and is always moving whether it is answering phone calls or managing all the different keys and customers. She remembered me after my first visit! The mechanics here are trustworthy and do their job well. I've gotten two reasonably priced oil changes and also brought my car in for a tire repair and I'm very happy with all my interactions at Shelley's. I would suggest making an appointment or dropping off your car because this place IS BUSY. If you are doing a walk in expect to wait a couple of hours, but otherwise I will definitely be back for all my car related concerns! quotes-image

Christy, who runs the front of the shop, is the best. I needed to get my car smog checked. The problem was I had a check engine light. Shelley's did a diagnosis and was able to clear the check engine, but the codes would still not pass. We were able to assess the problem that could have been $$$ in parts and labor for a catalytic converter, but there was an alternative to flush out the codes for an indefinite amount of miles. I checked once a week before work at Shelley's to see if it my car cleared. Every time, denied. Then my check engine light went on again! Hope was lost. I gave up going to Shelley's for months. Until today. When I got in my car and was heading to work the check engine light was off. I immediately went to Shelley's. The codes were clean! We ran the smog and passed. I am legit on the road again. Thanks for your persistence with me Shelley's! I'll be a lifetime customer.quotes-image
